ARCHITECTS CHALLENGED TO DESIGN TOMORROW'S LIFESTYLE HOME

In addition to recognising design excellence in specific categories, The Mail on Sunday British Homes Awards provide an unrivalled opportunity for architectural practices to showcase their design vision for tomorrow's lifestyle home.

Sponsored by VELUX and in association with its key partners, National Centre for Excellence in Housing (a joint venture between BRE (Building Research Establishment) and NHBC), BIDA (British Interior Design Association), THINK08 (a new landmark in UK construction and property events) and Real Estate TV, entries for the British Homes Awards 2008 will be invited for consideration within 12 Categories. In collaboration with one of Britain’s most innovative house builders and a recipient of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Crest Nicholson PLC, architects working with interior designers will be invited to submit their own vision of tomorrow’s Lifestyle Home.

The panel of Judges – again chaired by celebrated Past President of RIBA, Michael Manser- will select a short-list of 10 which will then be presented to the readers of The Mail on Sunday to vote for the winning design which will be built by Crest Nicholson at a site within the UK.

All the Award winning and commended schemes, together with the winning scheme for tomorrow’s Lifestyle Home, will be announced at a black-tie event in front of 500 guests in London on Friday June 20.

“The Mail on Sunday British Homes Awards continue to be pivotal in providing a catalyst for change in the way we design and build our new homes. In achieving the highest possible level in the new code for sustainable homes 2007’s winner Green House sets the standards which others must match if we are to deliver zero carbon new homes by 2016. This year’s design competition moves the agenda forward as we look beyond the fabric of the building to deliver sustainable homes and communities”
Anna Scothern, Director, The National Centre for Excellence in Housing.

Closing date for entries: Friday 11th April 2008
