ARCHITECTS CHALLENGED TO DESIGN TOMORROW'S LIFESTYLE HOME
In addition to recognising design excellence in specific
categories, The
Mail on Sunday British Homes Awards provide an unrivalled
opportunity for architectural practices to showcase their
design vision for tomorrow's lifestyle home.

Centre for Excellence in Housing, Modern
Built Environment - Knowledge Transfer Network (MBE KTN),
BIDA (British
Interior Design Association), THINK08
(a new landmark in UK construction and property events) and
Real
Estate TV, entries for the British Homes Awards 2008 were
invited for consideration within 12 Categories. In collaboration
with one of Britain’s most innovative house builders
and a recipient of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise,
Crest Nicholson PLC, architects working with interior designers
were also invited to submit their own vision of tomorrow’s
Lifestyle Home.
The panel of Judges – again chaired by
celebrated Past President of RIBA, Michael Manser - selected
a short-list of 10 which were presented to the readers of
The Mail on Sunday to vote for their winning design to be
built by Crest Nicholson at a site within the UK.
All the Award winning
and commended schemes, including HomeBuilder of the Year
(sponsored by Knauf
Insulation), the Architect of the Year (sponsored by Landmark
Promap) together with the winning scheme for tomorrow’s
Lifestyle Home (sponsored by Mitsubishi
Electric Ecodan), were announced at a black-tie event
in front of 500 guests in London on Friday June 20 in the
presence of the Housing Minister RT Hon Caroline Flint MP
and the RIBA President Sunand Prasad.
