At Bramshott Place Village in Liphook retirement specialist Urban Renaissance Villages and property developer Helical Bar have created a community of 151 apartments and cottages, plus amenities, within a park and woodland estate. The scheme, which is designed by Barton Willmore, provides luxury living for downsizers in a traditional village setting. The homes combine lifetime home requirements with flexibility to allow for different lifestyles. Cottages are designed to be flexible enough to allow the resident to live upstairs or downstairs, and to accommodate live-in carers with independent accommodation. All homes are generously proportioned and have plentiful storage space to allow for a lifetime’s possessions, as well as en-suite bathrooms and contemporary interiors. The overall scheme has a village character with buildings arranged in distinct groups separated by mature trees or new planting to create a sense of place and encourage social interaction. There is a clear and simple network of streets with courtyards, communal landscaped areas and pathways. The landscaping is designed with low gradients and incorporates assets such as the walled garden, the restored Tudor gatehouse, with its own formal garden, and the meadow and woodland walk. External designs are influenced by the traditional architecture of the scheme’s Liphook location. Predominant materials include red stock brick, plain clay roof tiles, colour washed render, tile hanging and stone or brick quoins. Homes are designed to an Excellent level under the EcoHomes environmental rating. Rainwater is harvested to minimise demand for fresh water to irrigate the grounds. As well as homes, the scheme has its own clubhouse containing an atrium winter garden, bar, library, restaurant, meeting and snooker rooms, and a health suite with hydrotherapy pool. The village developer also provides a laundry and cleaning service, on-site nurse and weekly doctor’s surgery, a village shop, free internal telephone system, and a private bus to Liphook. |
