This warehouse conversion in Farringdon has the looks of a New York loft apartment by day, and the atmosphere of a cool penthouse bar by night, say its designers Daruma Design. The secret of the transformation is clever lighting. The lighting design uses electric blues and moody shadows to create the ambience of an ultra-stylish bar. The brief for the project was to create a space that was modern, minimalist, comfortable and welcoming. The design creates maximum impact with its contrasting textures: corkboard wallpaper beside cool, exposed concrete pillars and glossy surfaces alongside warm greys and naturals. Statement pieces like an acrylic swing chair and a breakfast bar give a playful mood to the space, a signature twist from the designer. The bedroom evokes the luxury of a hotel room, with its symmetrical lines and bold and sensual fabrics. The ensuite has a spacious walk-in shower, and there is a sunken bath in the communal bathroom. |
