Explore Living's Lumina combines Art Deco design
influences with latest building technologies.
RPA Architecture drew inspiration from Art Deco
architecture to give the street corner block
prominence. The building has a white render exterior,
grey-framed windows in both horizontal and vertical
bands, and a curving glazed corner. The flat roofline is
emphasised and has a deep white soffit. Curved glass
balconies and a curving turret complete the look. The
architecture is complemented by the landscaping,
which includes a circular paved area.
The homes were planned to make good use of offsite
construction. Bathrooms and en-suites were all
manufactured off site as pods, and simply craned into
their final location. This helped to give the homes a
consistent quality of finish, and allowed high-quality features such as wet room-style showers to be
incorporated.
Homes are also equipped with underfloor heating,
wiring for a wall-mounted flat-screen television, and
access to wireless broadband throughout the building.
Environmental features have also been incorporated
into the homes, including solar panels and super water saving toilets. |
