This grade 2 listed estate with its snaking concrete blocks is to undergo an ambitious refurbishment that could take around a decade to deliver. Developer Urban Splash, backed by English Partnerships, the Housing Corporation and English Heritage has bravely taken on the challenge of refurbishment. It has worked with architects Hawkins Brown and Studio Egret West on a masterplan that is designed to give the 1000-home mega-estate a more open and welcoming presence.
