The landowners behind the Newhall village have a vision. They have set out their stall to challenge mass market housebuilding practice and create a new community of the highest design quality and innovation on their 110-ha site close to Harlow in Essex. Plot 5 is one of the latest products to emerge from this forward-looking strategy. This townhouse design by Richard Murphy explores the use of volume, rather than simply floorspace, to create better homes, and it was the ingenuity of the house plan that caught our judges’ attention. |
