The solidly brick-built former Granada cinema in Battersea is remarkable for its grade 2 listed auditorium designed by Theodore Komisarjevsky. Henley Homes and Assael Architecture are the first team to come up with a solution that does not encroach on this, enabling development. The engineering-based solution involves suspending a lightweight, double-height addition supported by two trusses on columns containing apartments over the roof of the existing building. The cinema auditorium will remain for commercial use.
