Because this was a sensitive riverside setting fronting the River Dart the planners argued that any new build should have minimal impact on it. Architect Stan Bolt’s response was to design what is effectively an underground house.
This 2,500 sq ft four-bedroom home is like an iceberg, with only its main entrance, master bedroom suite and a second bedroom at ground level.
